Feathers were flying and heads were turning when I had the pleasure of photographing parakeets for a new client earlier this week. I was amazed by how colorful and detailed their beautiful plumage is. They are active little fellows whose sweet faces belie their powerful beaks. I found this out the hard way when I picked one up without my gloves. Ouch!
At first I thought, there was something wrong with my lens as the feathers on their backs seemed a little blurred, but on closer inspection it seems they are that way by design. I imagine they blend in better in their native Australian woodlands.
They naturally prefer to be together and work much better when they have a friend. But, isn't that true for just about everyone?
